Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic eased past their opponents to set up a highly anticipated clash for Sunday’s Wimbledon final.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic secured a 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-4) victory over Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals played on Friday. On the other hand, Spanish top seed Carlos Alcaraz beat Russian third seed Daniil Medvedev 6-3 6-3 6-3 in the second semi-final of the day.

Alcaraz has reached his first final at the All England Club. On the contrary, Djokovic has made it to his ninth Wimbledon showpiece – and his 35th final at all Grand Slam tournaments. This will be his fifth successive Wimbledon men’s final. The 36-year-old Serbian has not lost a completed match at Wimbledon since 2016. He has also not suffered any defeat on Centre Court since 2013.
Djokovic Overpowers Sinner
The contrast between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner in terms of experience was laid bare by the statistics prior to the match. This came to pass during the match as experience prevailed over youth in two hours and 46 minutes. Sinner had no answer to Djokovic’s power and precision.
Sinner earned a break point in the opening game but Djokovic saved it. However, the Serbian found himself in trouble again immediately as Sinner fired a 104 mph forehand down the line.Once again, the 21-year-old Italian couldn’t make it count.
Djokovic eventually took control of the game and took the first set in an emphatic fashion with an unreturnable serve. In the second set, Sinner had to save two break points while 3-4 down to hold. Djokovic was forced to serve out the set again, which he did in a brilliant manner. Sinner put on a spirited fight but there was little he could do to stop a dominant Djokovic who eventually took the third set.
Alcaraz Beats Medvedev
There was nothing to separate the players through the first seven service games. Alcaraz was the first to earn a break point in the match after pouncing at a crucial moment with a fizzing return and well-timed net approach.
With the momentum, he took serve twice more in the second set before eventually wrapping up the third by ending a run of four straight breaks. Carlos Alcaraz needed just one hour and 49 minutes in Centre Court to book his spot in a Wimbledon final.

“What can I say about him [Djokovic]? Everybody knows the legend he is. It’s going to be really difficult. I will believe in myself, that I can beat him here. I saw that he is [unbeaten] since 2013 on this court, so it’s going to be a tough challenge. but I’m grateful for this. It’s a final, there’s no time to be afraid or tired. I will go for it, and we’ll see what happens.” Eurosport quotes Carlos Alcaraz.
