Murang'a Seals and Shabana facing off last weekend
  • Shabana lead the standings with a two-point buffer
  • Murang’a Seal hope to win and Shabana lose
  • Both have already been promoted to the Premier League

Shabana FC and Murang’a Seal will be in action on the final day of the National Super League, as the two go into battle for the title, having wrapped up promotion to the FKF Premier League.

Shabana lead the standings with a two-point buffer, having lost to Seals last weekend 2-1 at the St Sebastian Park. Shabana only need to win to affirm their place on top of the table and win the title.

They will take on Kisumu All Stars at their Gusii Stadium backyard while Murang’a will be at the Awendo Stadium taking on Shabana’s ‘younger brothers’ Gusii United.

“We are ready and have prepared well for the game. The focus is very high and we are not under any pressure. The target was to earn promotion this season and with that achieved, anything else is a bonus. The players are ready for this match and we want to win it for our fans,” said Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth.

He added; “We are playing at home and that should give us a lot of confidence. The fans have really pushed us this season and we hope to give them a gift by winning the title.”

Meanwhile, Seals are also under no pressure as they have achieved their promotion target, something they missed by a whisker last season. They were beaten by Wazito FC in the play-off, having finished third in the regular season.

Head coach Vincent Nyaberi says they are into the game to finish the season strong.

Under no pressure

“We just want to win our match and finish strongly. We don’t care much about what happens in the other game because as a team, we already achieved our season’s target which is to earn promotion,” he said.

In addition to the championship battle, there is a contest for the promotion third-place playoff spot. Currently, Migori Youth holds a two-point advantage over Mara Sugar, adding to the stakes in this particular clash.

Migori Youth will clash with MCF at the Migori Stadium. Meanwhile, Mara Sugar faces an away challenge against Mwatate United in Wundanyi.

The outcomes of these matches will ultimately decide which team claims the coveted playoff spot and sets up a battle against Wazito FC for a chance to gain promotion to the prestigious FKF Premier League.

The ultimate day of the FKF NSL season promises high-stakes matches and supporters of the FKF NSL will eagerly await the climax of the season to see where their teams stand at the end of this season.
