This year’s Wimbledon is special in many ways as the world gets a treat from tennis couples playing mixed doubles.

The release of the mixed doubles pairings at the All England Club this summer puts love on the Wimbledon scoreboard.

KATIE BOULTER AND ALEX DE MINAUR TENNIS COUPLE

Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur made it to the first-round draw of mixed doubles playing against the Australian duo of John Peers and Storm Hunter in the opening round.

This is special for Boulter and her Australian boyfriend because it is the first time they are playing together despite dating for three years. Their presence as a tennis couple is lighting up Wimbledon mixed doubles.

Boulter made a fine start to life in the main draw, making it safely through to the second round.  Meanwhile, De Minaur got underway on Thursday morning, taking on Belgium’s Kimmer Coppejans.

Minaur and Boulter are not the only partners to cross the white line this summer, with Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas and his girlfriend Paula Badosa also taking part in the mixed doubles.

They will face top seeds Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek in what is a tricky first-round draw. Badosa has not been shy about her relationship with Tsitsipas, bizarrely sharing details about a s3x dream she had about him in one of her press conferences.

Badosa, who has been publicly dating Tsitsipas since the 2023 French Open, got a fit of the giggles, at least maintaining to stop short of going into key details of her dream.

Both Tsitsipas and Badosa each broke up with their respective partners early this year and quickly moved to another relationship.

WHO WAS STEFANOS TSITSIPAS DATING BEFORE PAULA BADOSA?

Tsitsipas was in a relationship with Theodora Petalas. They seemed and looked like the perfect couple. Petala earned praise from tennis fans for putting up with Tsitsipas’ anger fits which is depressing in any relationship.

Then, she was the woman behind the Tsitsipas’ glow. Petals was there for Tsitsipas in his lowest moment when he contemplated quitting tennis over defeat and injury. However, she persuaded him otherwise and this didn’t stop him from dating Badosa.

WHAT DID PAULA BADOSA DREAM ABOUT STEFANOS TSITSIPAS?

The Spanish tennis star first dreamt of having an intimate moment with Tsitsipas at the 2023 Australian Open. She wasn’t playing due to an injury and all she did was watch her Greek boyfriend play and it got to her at night.

“I was injured in Australia. I watched his match, the final. Surprising, because I never dream about tennis players, but I dreamt about him that night, that we were both winning Australian Open. Then it was like we were having a very romantic moment, but I’m not going to explain. I’m just going to leave it there,” she told a press conference at Wimbledon.

IS IT NORMAL FOR TENNIS COUPLES TO PLAY MIXED DOUBLES TOGETHER?

Tennis couples playing mixed doubles not just at Wimbledon is a huge revolution in this sport. Laura Robson of Eurosport admits so and also expresses her delight at witnessing a couple in action. Still, she says a dozen other tennis couples cannot pull such an act due to a lack of self-confidence.

If she was in this position, she admits that she would struggle to play with her partner because she can’t handle any critical feedback from how she plays. Therefore; she is excited to see both tennis couples in the mixed doubles draw.  A proper insight into this is that there are a lot of pre-planning talks before walking on the court and getting the show on.

Robson was a British tennis player and she announced her retirement a week ago to focus on other things in her life. Thus, her insight on tennis couples playing mixed doubles at Wimbledon holds water given her experience threads likes.

Minaur-Boulter and Tsitsipas-Badosa union respectively are the most focused on this year. Pundits say it is not easy dating a fellow tennis player but they seem to be pulling it off well without any hitches so far.
