After beating off competition from bitter rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid on Thursday, July 6 confirmed the signing of Turkish wonder Arda Guler to a six-year deal.
In 2019, Guler joined Fenerbhace’s development program. He later made his senior debut for the Turkish team during the 2021–22 season in a Europa League encounter against HJK in a play-off round match.

Guler was assigned the No. 10 shirt when Mesut Ozil left, and his performances in the 2022–23 season captured everyone’s attention. During the 2022–23 season, the 18-year-old established himself as a fixture in the senior team, garnering interest from other European teams.
Guler had accepted a contract offer from Barcelona, but the talented Turkish player has since opted to join their bitter rivals Real Madrid. The 18-year-old was sold for 20 million euros, with an extra 10 million in performance-based bonuses, Fenerbahce confirmed on their website.
Additionally, Fenerbahce will keep Guler’s 20% sell-on clause.
On their website, Real Madrid stated that they had reached an agreement over the transfer of the young player, who would sign a six-year contract with them. On Friday, July 7, the 18-year-old is anticipated to be introduced as a Los Blancos player, following which he will address the media.

Arda Guler, who will be playing alongside Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga for the Spanish powerhouse, is the newest young midfield star to sign with them.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain competed for his signing although he had long been linked with moves to some of Europe’s top teams, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle.
The left-footed technician demonstrated his abilities in the Turkish Cup final, setting up Michy Batshuayi for the first goal and winning man-of-the-match honors in a 2-0 victory. He scored four league goals and provided four assists last season.
Like Mesut Ozil, the 17-year-old wonder boy is a gifted left-foot player with exceptional vision and passing ability for a player his age.
Guler also possesses exceptional dribbling skills, as seen by his assist during a game against Slavia Prague. He can thus convert opportunities, as seen by the volleyed effort that made him the club’s youngest scorer.
His first turn of speed and ability to change directions are electrifying. Although he prefers cutting onto his left foot from his right, he is adaptable enough to play in a variety of offensive situations. He is also dangerous from set-pieces, where he got his first assist from a corner.
At age 16, he made his senior debut and assisted in his Super Liga debut for Fenerbahce Thread Followers.
