  • PSG have accepted the world-record bid of €300m  from the Arabas

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has accepted a staggering €300m (£259m) offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal for their star player, Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old forward, who has been a long-term target for Real Madrid, has been made available for sale by PSG as his contract in the French capital is set to expire in less than a year. Mbappe has already made it clear that he won’t be exercising the option to extend his contract for another year, prompting PSG to consider selling him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Initially, PSG had hoped to fetch around €200m (£172m) for Mbappe and entice Real Madrid to make a move. However, Al Hilal, financially backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), entered the race with a mind-blowing offer of €300m, which PSG has accepted due to strained relations between the club and the player.

Al Hilal has successfully attracted other high-profile players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia with lucrative wages and bonuses. Despite this, Mbappe’s camp is yet to respond to the interest from Al Hilal, as the player had previously set his sights on joining Real Madrid. His relationship with Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, remains strong despite a past decision to extend his contract with PSG instead of moving to Madrid.

PSG’s representatives are trying to generate interest from other clubs for Mbappe, but Al Hilal’s record-breaking bid is significantly higher than any other offer. Still, PSG is determined to explore all options before parting ways with the talented forward.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, has not revealed their intentions publicly, knowing they can agree to sign Mbappe on a pre-contract agreement in six months. They must now observe as Al Hilal attempts to convince Mbappe that a short-term move to Saudi Arabia would be in his best interests.
