Career
Nemanja joined KK Partizan youth system and began his professional career with the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions of the Austrian League.
The forward returned to Serbia and joined Crvena Zvezda for two seasons where he was noted for his performance for his outside shooting in the EuroCup.
While in the team, the forward was drafted by the Washington Wizards with the 35th pick of the 2010 NBA draft and his rights were then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Bjelica was then signed by Saski Baskonia on a five-year contract and his last season was the most successful in the club.
After his contract at Saski, he joined Fenerbahce Ulker led by one of Europe’s great coaches Zeljko Obradovic. He opted to stay at the club rather than being at the NBA, his main reason being his coach.
He played at Fenerbahce becoming a key player in over 24 EuroLeague games and the team was promoted to the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time in history.
Before his contract ended, he decided to terminate it to play in the NBA and joined the Minnesota Timberwolves, making his first career start in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bjelica backed out of a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers to return to Europe to join Sacramento Kings on a three-year contract worth $20.5 million.
He was traded to Miami Heat in exchange for Maurice Harkless and Chris Silva, then joined Golden State Warriors and back to Fenerbahce on a two-year deal.
