His elder brother Willy Hernangomez is also a professional basketball player who currently plays for New Orleans Pelicans.
Juanco began playing basketball at a young age and showed a promising future through the sport. He played for the Real Madrid youth team and club Baloncesto Majadahonda before he made his professional debut with CB Estudiantes.
The player was later drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the 15th overall pick in the NBA draft and has since played for the Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs.
Apart from his basketball career, Juanco is an actor and has appeared in a Netflix movie ‘ Hustle’ playing the role of Bo Cruz, a young Spanish basketball player trying to make it in the NBA.

Career
Juan began his career at the CB Las Rozas and Real Madrid youth teams then moved to club Baloncesto Majadahonda.
He signed his first professional contract with CB Estudiantes’ second team and was later promoted to the main team, where he was named the recipient of the ACB Best Young Player Award.
He then entered into the NBA draft list and was selected by the Denver Nuggets signing his rookie scale with the Nuggets.
His next move was an assignment to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League
and after appearing for them for only three days, he was called back by the Nuggets.
Juancho was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for three years, but unfortunately, contracted Covid-19 and a shoulder injury that saw him out of the 2021 Olympics moving to the Boston Celtics.
Hernangomez was traded to San Antonio Spurs in a three-team trade involving the Denver Nuggets, sending Bol Bol and PJ Dozier to Boston and Bryn Forbes to Denver.
He was again traded to Utah Jazz and finally to his current team Toronto Raptors. His star in basketball is on the verge of its peak and soon he might be named the best basketball player of the year in Spain.

The player represented his national team Under-18 basketball team at the FIBA Europe Championship in Latvia and joined the Under-20 playing at the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship.
