Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema scored a brilliant goal on his Al-Ittihad debut on Thursday evening. Benzema scored a stunning goal that ensured Al-Ittihad recorded a win in their first Arab Club Champions Cup match. The 35-year-old Frenchman also laid on an assist in the match.

Karim Benzema was named in Al-Ittihad’s starting lineup for their fixture played on Thursday. However, he was not the only new signing to make an appearances for the Saudi club. Portuguese youngster Jota, who joined this summer from Celtic, started the match before making a way for former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante at half time.

Al-Ittihad fell behind in the 26th minute following Oussema Bouguerra’s powerful volley. However, they found their way back into the game just six minutes later, courtesy of Abderrazak Hamdallah. The 32-year-old Morocco international headed in a close-range goal from a cross delivered by Karim Benzema.

With the scores at 1-1, Benzema showcased his brilliance by scoring a sensational goal from the edge of the box. It all started by some neat passes among the Al-Ittihad players before the ball was played out to Benzema on the left side of the pitch.

The Frenchman simply cut inside to the edge of the box then took aim and hit a curling effort which went past ES Tunis’ goalkeeper. The goal sparked celebrations among Al-Ittihad fans who are just starting to see the quality Benzema possesses. The Saudi club will play their second fixture of the tournament against Tunisian side CS Sfaxien this weekend.

Well, it’s hardly to stay Benzema has started his Al-Ittihad career in fine style. He is still considered one of the best strikers in the world, and his sensational strike against ES Tunis proves it.

Following the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema became another prominent player to join Saudi Pro League. He arrived from Real Madrid earlier this summer transfer window and signed a contract worth 258 million euros.

Al-Ittihad fans got the opportunity to greet the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner last month in what was a brilliant presentation. Speaking after joining the club, Benzema said he was excited to find challenge in a new football league in a different country.
