Bobby Roode made his professional wrestling debut in 1998 as “Total” Lee Awesome against Pete Rock. It didn’t take long before he caught the attention of wrestling enthusiasts. The Canadian then went ahead to work for various wrestling promotions, including the Puerto Rican promotion World Wrestling Council (WWC).
Between 1998 and 2004, Bobby Roode also worked a series of dark matches for World Wrestling Federation/ World Wrestling Entertainment. He also made appearances at Real Action Wrestling.
