Personal Life
Victor Obinna was born on March 25 1987 in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria to his parents of Igbo origin.
He is an Igbo from the South Eastern part of the country and his name means ‘father’s heart’.
Obinna played for Nigerian clubs Plateau United and Kwara United and proceeded on trial with Italian club Internacionale, but international clearance problems meant that the transfer was not finalized.
He rejoined Enyimba and took part in the club’s domestic league campaign and CAF Champions League defence.

The former Super Eagles and Inter Milan striker is married to his partner Anstija and they have a baby girl named Aamara Victoria Nsofor.
Victor is a practising Christian believer who has drawn inspiration from his fellow player Sadio Mane, who has supported his community in Senegal.
Obinna says he also wants to follow in his footsteps by helping disabled people throughout Africa.
Career
Obinna was signed by the Italian club Chievo on a five-year contract but also reported that the club had an agreement with Internationale, that he first registers with Chievo, to use the non-Eu registration quota of Chievo.
In his first season at the club, he scored six goals in a total of 26 games and a goal on his Serie A debut against Parma.
In the first months of the season, the former player was suspended for having signed a contract with both Internationale and Chievo. Chievo were relegated and for fear of Obinna’s future, they kept him at the club to help them bounce back to Serie A.
Obinna was involved in a car accident on his way home from training in which he swerved away from a vehicle that tried to overtake him around a bend.
He escaped with a few cuts and bruises though his car flipped several times and was heavily damaged. He lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital.
On recovery, he moved back to Inter Milan for a transfer fee of $1.29 million, signing a three years contract.
Immediately after he signed in, English club Everton attempted to sign him on loan but were unable to secure him a work permit. His first goal for Inter came in a win over Roma.
Internationale coach Jose Mourinho described Obinna as one of the best talents for the club in future.
Malaga, a Spanish La Liga side signed Obinna on a long-season loan, scoring his first goal for the Andalusian club against Xerez, a match where he was sent off.
West Ham United signed the player on a season-long loan with a permanency option deal. So unfortunate that he was sent off in West Ham’s semi-final for an off-the-ball challenge.
The following year, he signed a four-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow on a free transfer. After the time-lapse of his contract at Lokomotiv, Obinna joined MSV Duisburg for one season.

In the following season, he joined SV Darmstadt for only five months and then moved to Cape Town City which was at the time being managed by former West Ham teammate Benni McCarthy.
Obinna played for Nigeria at different youth levels moving to the senior national team. He was later appointed as the captain of the Nigeria national team.
