Wrestling Career
Tyrus signed his first contract with WWE in 2006 and was assigned to the developmental territory Deep South Wrestling (DSW). He made his debut in September that year and began performing using the name G-Rilla. He soon adopted the gimmick of a street thug.
In June 2007, the American wrestler made his debut at Florida Championship Wrestling’s inaugural show defeating Shawn Osborne. He soon began feuding with Harry Smith and Teddy Hart, who had formed the Hart Dynasty.
WWE released Tyrus from his contract in February 2008 and the American went on a two year hiatus. He resigned with Vince McMahon’s promotion in 2010 and was assigned to FCW where he formed an alliance with Tamina Snuka, Donny Marlow and The Usos.
Tyrus made his debut on the main roster as Alberto Del Rio’s bodyguard. His gimmick was later changed to The Funkusaurus, a funk dancer accompanied by his backup dancers. Tyrus departed WWE in 2014 and joined Total Nonstop Action.
He spent three years at TNA and then joined the National Wrestling Alliance, where he is NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in his first reign.
