The forward grew up in Russia and Nigeria and at two years old, the family moved to Nigeria before moving back to Russia where he completed his secondary school education.

In Russia, he played for the youth teams of KAMAZ and CSKA Moscow.

At 17 years, the player returned to Nigeria and after spending some time with amateurs AS Racines Lagos, he became a professional with the Nigeria Premier League side Bendel Insurance.

He then signed for Louviere and made a mark by helping the club win a Belgian Cup in his first season. Odemwingie holds three citizenships Nigerian where his father hails from, Russia his mother’s land and Uzbek where he was born making him eligible to play in all three countries.

Peter married his fiancée Sarah Fallon at a church in Northampton after two years of dating. The couple has two sons and a daughter, and they live in West Midlands, England.

The player retired from football four years ago and announced that he was on the verge of becoming a professional golfer. He is an avid fan of the sport.

Career

When he was in Russia, Peter played in the youth teams of Kamaz and CSKA Moscow and on returning to Nigeria, he joined amateurs AS Racines Lagos becoming a professional with Bendel Insurance.

He then joined Anderlecht on an unsuccessful trial then to La Louviere where he made his mark by helping the club win the Belgian Cup, qualifying him for the UEFA Cup playing against Benfica. He went through another trial with Blackburn Rovers.

Famous for his technic and pace, Lille poached him and more prestigious European clubs were on the spot then to Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee of $14 million on a four-year contract. He became the driving force and one of their most important players.

West Bromwich Albion signed him on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee with an option of a third year in favour of the club. His performance at the club was excellent and they extended his contract for three years at a fee of $5 million.

Odemwingie signed a two-year contract with Cardiff City for a fee of $2.8 million saying he was eager to have a fresh start of his career at the club falling in favour with the club’s manager.

He joined Stoke City on a one-and-a-half-year contract and two years later, he joined Rotherham United on a short-term contract. Two months later, he moved to Madura United and retired from football two years later.

Peter has earned a decent net worth through the contracts, salaries, wages and bonuses he received from various clubs he signed with.
