Justice Christopher leaves a gap on his demise

Who is Justice Christopher?

Christopher is a former Nigerian professional footballer who was born in Jos, Nigeria on December 24 1981. He played as a midfielder for the Nigeria national team.

Justice’ Career

Christopher was born in Jos, Nigeria and this is where he began his professional career at Katsina united before heading to Sharks and Bendel Insurance.

Belgian side Royal Antwerp signed Christopher on noticing hi his impressive performance when he played at the Nigeria Professional Football League outfit.

Two years later, Justice joined club Levski Sofia for an undisclosed fee before going ahead to represent Trelleborg, Alania Vladikavkaz and Herfolge Bolklub. At the end of that season, he announced his retirement from the game.

In 2012, the midfielder announced his return to his football career and signed for NPFL side Nasarawa United.

Internationally, Justice was part of the Nigeria U20 team and was appointed as captain of the team. Soon, he was called up to the senior national team squad where he played in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations that were hosted by their fellow African country Mali.

Justice Longs was on the verge of shining in his career and coach Adegboye Onigbinde named him in the squad that was to play for the 2002 World Cup. He represented his country at the World Cup in 2022 and played against Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England in the group stage.

He helped Nigeria keep a clean sheet against one of the favourites for the tournament.

At the global football showpiece, Christopher featured in all games against Argentina, Sweden and England. In total, he appeared in 11 international matches.

Justice Long Christopher’s demise

Christopher died in a hotel premise he owned in Jos, Nigeria. Friends and relatives said that Justice did not show or exhibit any sign of illness on that fateful day as he was full of life and was jovial until he retired to his room for the night.

On that morning, he attended his usual morning walkout, attended a political rally and had an engagement with friends and close associates in his hotel before he took a rest and had played in a match a day before.

A cousin to the deceased said that there were screams from his room that attracted the attention of the people around and on rushing there for help, the door was locked from the inside and they had to look for a way out to open it.

They forcefully opened it and found Justice gasping for breath, rushed him to a nearby hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. May his soul continue resting in eternal peace.

News about his demise was confirmed by Nigeria Football Federation. Former Nigeria assistant coach Joseph Yobo was one of his close friends and paid tribute saying they shared wonderful memories throughout their international career.

His autopsy report was not released to the public though there was anticipation from his fans on what led to his death.
