Personal Life

Mactabene was born on January 30 1978 in Port Harcourt to her Nigerian parents. She is also the princess of the Ojuka clan of the Kalabari people in Nigeria.

She is currently single and there has been no dating history in the past, with no children. Just like any other child, she grew up well with a good relationship with her family but she was more privileged since she comes from a royal family where anything she need was readily available.

Mactabene is a down-to-earth lady who relates well with people and has a heart for helping the less privileged in society.

She participates in projects that help the needy in her home area by donating foodstuff and also books and stationery in schools within her locality, thus, she has won the hearts of many by uplifting them.

She is also the founder of an initiative known as ‘Back to School’ sponsored by DA-F basketball. This happens a few days before children resume school from their holiday, set aside for children and teenagers on the importance of education.

They do this by distributing writing materials, games and motivational talks. Mactabene being a successful lady draws the attention of most children who believe she is their role model.

She emphasizes that education is more important than sports because sports can be done at a later age as most of them don’t dwell on age.

She is a Christian who strongly believes in her religion and loves quoting about ‘God’.

 Career

More about Nigeria women’s basketball team

The team also known as D’Tigress is regulated by the Nigeria Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in the country.

Nigeria happens to be one of the most successful women’s national teams on the African continent and is currently the African champion.

They have won the Women’s Afro Basket Championship consecutively three times in a roll, having won the 2017 championship at Bamako, Mali, in 2019 in Dakar, Senegal and 2021 at Yaounde in Cameroon.

Nigeria qualified for the 2009 Africa Cup of Nations that was held in Libya.

Amachree kept and left a good pace that those after her have been following closely seeing their success. I am certain that she is a happy soul whenever she hears about the national team and their involvement. Wishing them all the best.

Since Amachree last played in the Summer Olympics in 2004, the team qualified for the 2006 FIBA World Championship for women since they had won the previous year. Though they did not qualify for a pass into the second round, they also participated in the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia.

In the following year, the team attended the FIBA African Championship for Women which saw them qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2009 Africa Cup of Nations held in Libya.

My passion is capturing the untold journey of global athletes from humble beginnings to superstars in their own right.
