Ideye Brown was born on October 24, 1988, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State in Nigeria to his parents Joel Ideye and Theresa Ideye.
Ideye found himself on the wrong side of the law when a Ukrainian woman named Alex accused the player of being the father to her two babies. She claimed that they had a two years relationship that led to the birth of the children when he played for Neuchatel Xamax.
Later, a Swiss court ordered to pay $225,000 for child support.
He is married to Damka Ideye and they have two sons Brown Ideye Jr. and Andriy Ideye and they profess the Christian faith.
He started his playing career by joining the youth ranks of Nigerian club Bayelsa United and then with Ocean Boys.
Career
Ideye began his football career with Bayelsa United before moving to Ocean Boys team that won the Nigerian Premier League. He then moved to Europe and joined Swiss Super League club Neuchatel Xamax.

Before his move to Switzerland, he was on trial with Willem II but was not signed. After three years with Xamax, he left for club Sochaux.
Ideye signed a three-year contract with West Bromwich Albion at a fee of $12.7 million with an option in the club’s favour for an extra year. He scored his first goal for the club in a match against Manchester where they lost.
The srstrikeroined Olympiacos from West Bromwich for a reported fee of $6.5 million featuring in the Champions League which was a way to convince him to move to the Athens-based club. He scored a goal at the champions league group stage over Dinamo Zagreb.
At this time, he received an offer from China during the transfer window but he rejected it, preferred staying with Olympiacos.

The player left Olympiacos for Tianjin Teda on a two-and-a-half-year contract for a transfer fee of $13 million with an annual salary of $3.8 million. He then joined Malaga on a loan for six months.
One year later, he joined the club Aris on a one-year contract for an annual fee of $545,255. He scored his first goal for the club in a home win against Panathinaikos in the first season.
Ideye represented his country at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. He played five games in the tournament scoring one goal against Costa Rica.
He was called up to the senior side as part of the 30-man squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He was not part of the final team though he came in as a substitute.
Ideye was called up to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations playing most of their games in the tournament and scored Nigeria’s second goal in their semi-final win over Mali and won over Burkina Faso in the finals.
