Career
Mkhitaryan was passionate about playing football from a young age. In 1995, he joined FC Pyunik and went through the club’s youth system before moving to Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2014. He returned to Pyunik the following year and received his first salary at the age of 15.
During his time with Pyunik, Mkhitaryan won the Armenian Premier League four times, the Armenian Supercup twice and the Armenian Cup once. He joined Metalurh Donetsk in 2009 and spent there one season before continuing with his career at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mkhitaryan spent three seasons playing for Shakhtar Donetsk helping the club win several trophies, including the Ukrainian Premier League three times.
In July 2013, Borussia Dortmund signed Mkhitaryan on a four-year deal. He made his debut in a pre-season friendly, providing an assist and then scoring his first goal. He won the DFL-Supercup and then joined Manchester United in July 2016.
