Career

Oyongo began his career with Moussango FC of Yaoundé, his play performance at the club attracted the interest of top club Coton Sport FC who signed him two years later.

At Coton Sport FC, he quickly established himself winning the league title in his first year at the club and helping them get to the league and cup double.

Two years later, he won another league title helping Coton Sport to the semi-finals of the 2013 CAF Champions League.

The player played for his country Cameroon at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He made his debut with the Cameroon senior team, starting in a victory over Gabon at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.

In the 2013 season, He went on trial with French side Lille and it was reported that he would be joining the Ligue 1 side during the transfer window.

The move never materialized and on the transfer window time, he went on trial with New York Red Bulls. In his first season at the club, Oyongo was a key player for the club.

In the second half of the season, he made starts at both left-back and in midfield helping his side qualify for the league playoffs. Before the season ended, he assisted on Bradley Wright-Phillips’s winning goal in the last match, helping New York defeat Sporting Kansas City and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The player was traded to Montreal Impact and played at that year’s Africa Cup of Nations scoring his first international goal in a draw against Mali.

He was named in Cameroon’s squad for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup but was later ruled out of the tournament after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in a win over Morocco.

His contract expired and he opted to move to Europe rather than renewing his contract with Montreal, signed with French club Montpellier HSC.

On joining Montpellier, he was loaned to Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League until the end of the 2020-21 season. He made his debut for the club in a Russian Premier League game against Ural Yekaterinburg as a substitute.

However, at half time, he was substituted due to an injury, his agent announced that he was to undergo surgery in Spain and could therefore not play for Krasnodar for the duration he was loaned out and would also not get back to the club.

The club paid his salary dues in advance at that time. He earned his net worth through the contracts e signed.

Oyongo played for Cameroon at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He then joined the country’s senior team making his debut for the national team in a victory over Gabon at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Oyongo scored his first international goal while playing for his national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in a match against Mali though it ended in a draw.
