Early life

Amrabat was born in Huizen, Netherlands, and is a citizen of Morocco. In 2010, he competed for the Netherlands at the youth international level. In 2013, he switched allegiances and began competing for Morocco at the senior international level.

Amrabat, a young Utrecht product, began his senior career in 2014. He joined Dutch rivals Feyenoord in 2017 and went on to win the KNVB Cup and two Johan Cruyff Shields there. Amrabat relocated to Belgium with Club Brugge the next year. He committed to Italian club Hellas Verona in 2019 on a loan with a buyout option; the team later purchased him in January 2020, sent him to Fiorentina, and then loaned him back in for the rest of the 2019–20 campaign.

Amrabat, a native of the Netherlands, first represented his own nation at the youth international level in 2010 before deciding to support Morocco in 2013. He debuted for Morocco’s senior team in 2017 and has since gone on to represent the nation at two FIFA World Cups and one Africa Cup of Nations.

Amrabat began his senior career in 2014 with Utrecht and switched to Feyenoord in 2017. He joined Club Brugge after one season, then in 2019 was loaned to Hellas Verona in Italy.

Amrabat was born to Moroccan parents in the Netherlands. At the under-15 level, he first represented the Netherlands.
Amrabat was chosen to compete in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup with the Morocco U17 national team.

In a 1-0 friendly victory against Tunisia on March 28, 2017, Amrabat made his senior debut for the Moroccan national team. He was included in Morocco’s 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in May of that year.

Amrabat was included in Morocco’s 26-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on November 10, 2022. He played well against Spain on December 6, 2022, maintaining possession of the ball in perilous situations and making important tackles that caused Spain to be eliminated from the World Cup.
