Samuel Oluwaseyi Jesutoromo Ameobi began his youth career with Newcastle United when he joined the club’s youth academy. His net worth at 30 years is $ 5 million. It was a real struggle to establish himself in the team and he was loaned to Middlesbrough, Cardiff City and Bolton Wanderers.

Sammy Ameobi net worth in 2023 stands at $5 million, having earned this from his football career. At Nottingham Forest, Sammy received a weekly wage of $9,985, $519,240 per year till the expiry of his contract at the club in 2020.

Personal Life

His parents are Margaret Ameobi and John Ameobi. His siblings are Shola Ameobi, Tomi Ameobi, Titi Ameobi, Tolu and Ifeniola.  His parents are of Nigerian descent and immigrated to Newcastle from Nigeria in search of greener pastures.

The father was a teacher in Nigeria but decided to take a PhD in agricultural engineering. He went on to become a pastor of the Newcastle Apostolic Church in Spital Tongues.

It’s a football family as two of his brothers, Tomi and Shola are also in the same profession. According to their father, they faced racism when they moved to Britain which almost made them go back to their native land.

They survived on their mother’s wage of $18.72 a week as their father had no working permit. The parents helped the children learn English by letting them speak English at home eventually losing their fluency in their native language known as Yoruba.

At the age of twelve, Sammy developed a condition known as Asthma which he has learnt to deal with up to date. He is currently not dating and has learnt Christian values from his parents, their father being a pastor.

Career

Sammy began his football career in 2008 when he joined Newcastle’s youth academy, progressed into the first team making his senior debut in 2011, in Newcastle’s penultimate. The same year, he joined the Nigeria U20 squad training that was held in Turkey ahead of the youth 2011 African Youth Championship.

He appeared in two friendly games for Nigeria against Arabia and Egypt. In the same year 2011, he was called up to the England U21 squad to play in matches against Iceland and Belgium where he was to play as a substitute. He made his debut against Iceland playing as a substitute, and England matched on to the Euro 2013.

His performance was so impressive that the club extended his contract by three and a half years till 2015. He did not appear for Newcastle in over a month and the manager confirmed that he was available for loan several clubs showing interest in him.

In 2013, Sammy joined Championship Middlesbrough on loan till the end of the season. At the club, he made nine appearances during his loan term, scored once then returned to Newcastle.

In 2015, he joined Cardiff City on a long-season loan where his only goal came in the third league game of the season winning two goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It was another return season in 2017,  signing a permanent deal with Bolton on a one-year contract. His contract was extended by two years turning down offers from other clubs. His net worth is primarily from his football career.

In June 2019, he cancelled his final year contract at Bolton joining Nottingham Forest. The club extended his contract by one more year till the end of the 2020-21 season. On leaving Nottingham, he joined Middlesbrough. However, he never appeared for them at any moment due to injury, releasing him in 2022.
