As a result of a notorious WhatsApp message that read, “Lump on if you want,” Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier was once charged for breaking FA betting regulations.

In July 2019, the former Tottenham right-back was close to agreeing to a deal with Atletico Madrid and had been teasing his impending signing in a WhatsApp discussion group with his close pals.

However, the problem was that Trippier’s pals took his hint very seriously and placed several wagers on the move, plunging the game into disgrace.

The 32-year-old defender turned over his phone as part of the FA’s inquiry into this matter.

Eventually, Trippier was given a ten-week suspension from all football-related activities, a £70,000 fine, and told to pay damages.

Daniel Sturridge

Injury-related setbacks in Daniel Sturridge’s career prevented him from reaching his full potential. The former England international was previously at the center of a betting incident in 2019, but many people would have forgotten that. trustly casino

Accusations that Daniel Sturridge leaked details about a prospective transfer in January 2018 led to his conviction for violating the betting laws in 2019.

He was initially anticipated to get a six-week sentence, with four of those weeks suspended, following his conviction by an impartial commission.

The governing body was ultimately obliged to issue a four-month suspension that extended to participating in professional football for any team, notwithstanding the FA’s subsequent appeal against the findings.

Along with receiving a £150,000 fine, Sturridge’s contract with Turkish club Trabzonspor was promptly terminated.

Andres Towsend, an English football player, was charged by the FA for violating the betting laws.

Townsend disclosed that he lost £46,000 in one night while struggling with a gambling addiction during the 2012–13 season.

Due to breaking the betting rules, the former Tottenham winger ultimately received a four-month suspension.

Townsend subsequently said, after being charged by the FA, that his love of online gambling began when he saw an advertisement on television and downloaded a bookmaker app.

Ivan Toney of Brentford has been barred from any football-related activities for a period of eight months after breaking Football Association betting regulations.

Toney will miss Brentford’s final two games of the season — at Tottenham on Saturday and at home against Manchester City on the final day — as a result of his immediate-starting ban.

After admitting to the alleged violations, Toney was given a £50,000 fine.

Toney will not be permitted to train with his Brentford teammates until September 17, according to the punishments issued by an impartial regulatory body.

Matt Le Tissier

After his playing career ended, Le Tissier transitioned into the world of football analysis. From August 2020 till now, he has served as a panelist on the Sky Sports program Soccer Saturday.

The Southampton icon, who was known for his superb accuracy from the penalty spot, got himself into problems a few years ago after admitting that, while working for The Dell, he participated in a botched spread betting sting.

In his book, Taking Le Tiss, the former midfielder said that he had plotted with friends and a teammate to attempt to win money from a spread bet that was centered on the moment of a first throw-in during a game.

But all of that hinged on Le Tissier’s ability to kick the ball out of play after a few minutes of kickoff; the former Saints player asserts that he was unable to do it in time and lost the wager.

However, the Crown Prosecution Service appropriately investigated the information; however, no further action was taken.
