He made his debut later in a match against SV Werder Bremen. He scored his first league goal in a match against FC Augsburg, which helped the hosts win. This saw him a nomination for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award but his team was relegated to finishing last.
The following year, he joined West Bromwich Albion on an initial season-long loan with an option of permanency scoring his first goal in the Championship win against Queens Park Rangers. The following year after appearing for the required matches, there was a trigger on a buyout clause, obligating Pereira’s purchase into the club.
It took seven months for Pereira to be officially announced as an Albion player despite the buyout clause being met months earlier, signing a four-year contract. The board did not negotiate until the end of the season the reason being, they wanted Pereira to focus in the field.
Pereira made his Premier League debut in September of that year though they lost to Leicester City. Six days later, he scored his first goal in a free-kick defeat to Everton.
Pereira scored in a match against Chelsea on March 2021 sealing Albion’s first win since 1978. It was not a walk in the park as the team lost to Arsenal and suffered relegation.
The then-appointed manager announced that Pereira would leave the club before the transfer window on allegations that he was not committed. It was hurting and he expressed his feelings on his social media accounts confirming that he wished to leave though the recently appointed manager’s comments were not respectful to him.
Later that year, he signed in at Club Al-Hilal SFC for an undisclosed amount and an annual salary of $7 million promoting his net worth. He scored his first goal for the club in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup 2022, in a match against Al Jazira club.
