Jude Bellingham, one of the most sought-after players in world football, has reached a personal agreement with Real Madrid and informed Borussia Dortmund of his intention to leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

This decision comes after months of interest from top clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool, as well as Los Blancos. All parties involved have been anticipating a potential move for the talented England international in 2023.

Bellingham’s representatives have engaged in discussions with interested clubs, including Dortmund, who had presented their own proposal for the midfielder to extend his contract with the club before eventually departing at a later date.

However, Bellingham conveyed his decision to join Real Madrid to them at the beginning of May through Juni Calafat, the chief scout at Real Madrid known for his role in securing signings such as Fede Valverde, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo Goes.

Following this, Bellingham’s representatives informed Dortmund that he would not be extending his current deal with the club, expressing his desire to pursue the transfer to Spain instead.

Manchester City was also informed of Bellingham’s choice, and it is important to note that there are no hard feelings between the parties involved. Bellingham’s decision is seen as a matter of personal preference and career planning.

This development signifies a significant move in Bellingham’s career, as he prepares to join the ranks of Real Madrid, one of the most illustrious clubs in world football. The decision reflects the high regard in which the young midfielder is held, with several top clubs vying for his signature.

Bellingham’s representatives have been engaged in discussions with Real Madrid over the past week to finalize the contractual terms, and they have now reached an agreement. The initial deal is expected to span six years, and upon the contract signing, a release clause of €1 billion will be included.

Now that Bellingham’s intentions are clear, the responsibility lies with Real Madrid to negotiate a deal with Borussia Dortmund. Both clubs are scheduled to hold talks this month in order to find a mutually agreeable arrangement. Throughout the process, Dortmund has consistently stated their aim to secure a deal valued at €150 million, which would set a new club record for a transfer fee, surpassing the amount Barcelona paid for Ousmane Dembele in 2017.

Since there is no existing release clause in Bellingham’s current contract, the specifics of the transfer are subject to negotiation between the two clubs. Initial discussions have primarily focused on the payment structure and the amount to be paid upfront. Real Madrid acknowledges the substantial nature of the deal and is willing to demonstrate flexibility in order to finalize the transfer. The teams are in the advanced stages of negotiations and are close to reaching an agreement.
