Gael Monfils played his first junior match in January 2002 and ended up compiling a singles win-loss record of 83-22 as a junior. He won the boys’ title at Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon and was also crowned International Tennis Federation youth world champion. He was ranked as the world No. 1 junior in February 2004.
