Charlotte Powdrell, the ex-girlfriend of UFC fighter Israel Adesanya pulled off the legal card following her breakup with the latter.

Powdrell wants half the wealth that the Nigerian-born New Zealand-based fighter owned.  Adesanya’s net worth is $12 million.  In an episode of his podcast, UFC challenger Sean O’Malley said that Powdrell wants half of the champion’s earnings. That’s despite being unmarried to him and having no children with him too.

Israel Adesanya and Charlotte Powdrell had a long-term relationship but came out to the public in 2019 for the first time. She graced Adesanya’s matches and the most notable one was the one with Robert Whittaker.

A legal suit by Charlotte Powdrell Israel to get half of what UFC is dumbfounding. But what does the law in New Zealand state? According to Property Relationships Act (PRA) by the New Zealand Law Society, there are grounds in which Powdrell could get a part of Adesanya’s wealth.

It states: “The PRA applies automatically to all married and civil union couples and those who have been living together in a de facto situation for a minimum of three years, whether they are of the same or opposite s3x.”

“It applies to relationships that end after 1 February 2002 even if they began before that date. It applies whether a relationship ends through separation or death – and it can override the provisions of a deceased partner’s will.”

  1. Based on this law, Powdrell could earn half of Adesanya’s wealth through the following.
  2. Proves she was in a long-term relationship with Adensanya
  3. If she invested in any property together with her ex-boyfriend
  4. Adduce a legally binding argument of compensation in case of separation or breakup
  5. Provide irrefutable proof that she contributed to Adesanya’s wealth
  6. Prove that the breakup left her in a bad place financially
  7. Prove she helped Adesanya build his career
  8. If she incurred debt while in the relationship
  9. The evidence she helped Adesanya increase his asset value
  10. If Adesanya enters into a contractual agreement with her
