  • Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has attracted huge interest from several Premier League clubs
  • The midfielder has played a crucial role in the Brighton squad and has been one of the best in the league
  • The club is now considering selling the midfielder should a good offer come from one of the suitors

Brighton & Hove Albion may consider letting Moises Caicedo leave the club this summer provided their valuation of the player is satisfied.

The Seagulls have no intention of ever becoming a selling club, but they are also an analytically driven club, and every player has a price.

Alexis MacAllister is due to leave this summer, while many in Brighton’s management believe he is the only major player who should be allowed to leave before the 2023/24 season.

However, 90min has reported that if the bidding for the in-demand Caicedo exceeds a specific amount – thought to be £80m – Brighton will be willing to talk about his future.

The club turned down all bids for the midfielder in January, with Chelsea and Arsenal putting in strong bids of up to £70 million.

Caicedo stated his desire to depart in January, but within weeks of the transfer window shutting, he signed a new long-term contract binding him to the club until 2027, with an option for another year.

Despite the new contract, Caicedo’s interest has not waned, and Arsenal remains keen on bringing him to north London. The Gunners like West Ham’s Declan Rice a lot, but 90min knows that Caicedo is still an option.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both expressed an interest in Caicedo, while it is said that Manchester City have him on their list of potential backups to top target Jude Bellingham, who is expected to join Real Madrid instead this summer.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is becoming increasingly involved in the club’s transfer selections, is keen to maintain his important players, but bringing in £150 million for Mac Allister and Caicedo – who cost the club a combined £11 million – would be a staggering piece of business for any team.

Should those deals be sanctioned, Brighton have made it clear they will reinvest in the squad. They have already agreed to summer deals for Watford’s Joao Pedro for a club-record £30m, as well as James Milner on a free transfer from Liverpool.
