Iwobi spent most of his childhood in Newham, an East London community near Bolton Wanderers where his uncle played.

He joined English Premier League side Arsenal at eight years and he would multi task on handling his academics and football practice. In London, he met Tyrell Robinson and they began playing football in the neighborhood. The latter plays for Bradford City and their relationship is still intact.

He made his first appearance as a player for club Arsenal at 17 years and two years later, he signed a long-term contract with the Club.

Alex was in a relationship with a UK based model named Clarisse Juliette before she left him. At the time of their dating, they posted updates of each other from time to time and when things went south, they wiped their pages clean and unfollowed each other.
