Sania  Mirza, Naomi Osaka, Emma Raducanu, Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur are the Top-5 players on the WTA tour with the highest social media value in 2022.

This is according to Novak Djokovic’s Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). Mirza who recently retired generated a total of $11.3 million in media value from her 388 postings between January 1, 2022, and January 31, 2023 on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

With an accumulation of $823,135, Osaka’s September 2022 Twitter tweet featuring BTS star Suga held the record for the most social value for a single post. The second-highest post, celebrating Swiatek’s US Open victory, had a social worth of $170,974.

The other players in the Top-10 rankings of female tennis players based on social media popularity were Coco Gauff, Petra Kvitova, Paula Badosa, Elina Svitolina, and Garbine Muguruza.

The other top tweets in terms of social worth during the US Open were Gauff’s retirement tribute tweets for Serena Williams.

For the year under review compared to 2021, another tennis player Magda Linette experienced the biggest gain in social worth among WTA players, with a staggering 338% increase.

In general, Caroline Garcia, Gauff, Jabeur, and Swiatek experienced the greatest rises in social value last year.

It was a big surprise for Swiatek making it to this list.  A while back,  Andy Roddick has opined that Swiatek does not receive as much media attention as other players on the tour who have accomplished far less in their tennis careers than the current world No. 1.

Roddick was happy to see Swiatek receive the acclaim outside of tennis that she deserved as she was included in TIME magazine’s selection of the “100 Most Influential People of 2023.”

Swiatek made to TIME’s Magazine 100 Most Influential People of 2023 alongside big names in the sports world such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Mikaela Shiffrin, Brittney Griner and Patrick Mahomes.

The Pole was given a spot on the coveted list in recognition of both her dominance of the WTA tour and her outspoken support for the Ukrainians, who have been at war with Russia since February 2022.

“I have never thought that something like this will happen to me,” she reacted to the news via a tweet.

Shiffrin, an Alpine skier who was also named by TIME’s Magazine praised Swiatek saying she brings a sense of grace in tennis.

“When Iga Swiatek plays tennis, three things come to mind: beauty, power, and truth. Throughout her rise to the top of tennis—and the top of sport—Iga has shown vulnerability and courage,” she describes the Pole.
