Jon Moxley was born on 7 December 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S. Moxley had a rough upbringing growing up in Cincinnati’s East End. He fell in love with wrestling at a very young age and idolized Bret Hart. As a teenager, he was arrested multiple times for shoplifting. He also struggled with cocaine addiction.
Moxley attended Amelia High School but dropped out to focus on his wrestling career. To support himself, Moxley worked minimum-wage jobs in factories, warehouses and restaurants. He later began selling popcorn and setting up the ring at Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA).
Career
Jon Moxley made his professional wrestling debut in 2004 and won the HWA Tag Team Championship the following year. He later won the HWA Heavyweight Championship three times before continuing with his career on the independent circuit.
Between 2006 and 2011, Moxley wrestled for promotions such as Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and Full Impact Pro (FIP), among others.

Jon Moxley signed with WWE in 2011 and was given the name Dean Ambrose. He began by performing at Florida Wrestling Championship (FCW) and NXT before joining the main roster. He was a member of The Shield alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
In May 2013, Ambrose won his first WWE championship, the WWE United States Championship. Before leaving the promotion, Ambrose went on to win the WWE Championship once, the WWE Tag Team Championship twice and the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times.
The American wrestler left WWE in April 2019 and began using the name Jon Moxley again. He made his AEW debut the following month at Double or Nothing.
