Well, August 5, 2023, has all the answers to one of the biggest fights in boxing history. Paul, a YouTuber turned boxer is seeking redemption after losing to Tommy Fury by a split decision in February 2023.

At the same time, Diaz will be making his professional boxing debut after turning down a contract renewal with the UFC. At 185 pounds and with 10-ounce gloves on, Paul and Diaz will take on each other in eight rounds.

This will mark Paul’s eighth professional fight since turning his head into boxing and he hopes it all goes well.

The former YouTuber is hopeful that Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz will end in success following his loss to Fury early in the year which he never expected.

Paul, the self-styled Problem Child told The Mirror that losing to Fury didn’t feel good but it has helped renew his boxing dreams in a big way

“My last fight didn’t end the way I wanted, but the result was the best thing that could have happened to my professional boxing aspirations,” he stated.

Out of seven fights, Paul won in six and lost in one – he lost to Fury. Fury, 23, beat the 26-year-old (6-0, 4 KO) by straight knockout in the eight rounds. While Paul had an upperhand by being 2 cm taller than Fury, Fury had a 10 cm advantage over Paul in reach.

Thus, Fury defeated Paul in an eight-round split-decision. This nearly brought Paul’s six-fight winning streak to an end with his first defeat since hanging his YouTube boots for the ring in 2021.

“People tell me Nate has been training with Andre Ward for years. That he has insane stamina. That he refuses to back down. Good for f***ing Nate. I haven’t forgotten about the slap backstage in Arizona, and on August 5th, a Problem Child is going to piece up and knock out the Stockton G.”

Following this, Diaz was forced to withdraw from his fight with Anderson Silva which was due in a few weeks after the incident. On the material day when he slapped Mac, he was in the match in support of his buddy Chris Avila, but things got heated at  the backstage moments before the fight started.

Nate Diaz has had 32 UFC fights, 12 of which he lost and won 20. Among the people he lost to and later reclaimed victory over is Conor McGregor. McGregor defeated Diaz in the first match but lost in the return match.

After defeating Silva in a unanimous decision, Paul angled on fighting Diaz but ended up battling it out with Fury where he lost. Nevertheless, he eventually booked the Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz fight in August where he will settle scores.

This August bout will be Diaz’s first outside the UFC since 2006. He last fought at UFC 279 in September, where he became the first person to defeat Tony Ferguson by submission.  Ferguson is a former interim lightweight champion.
