Canadian rapper Drake is at it again this time placing a high-stake bet on LA Lakers against Memphis Grizzlies in their Game 2 of the first-round playoff Thursday.

Lakers vs Grizzlies and Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks are the only two playoffs on Thursday. Sources claim that Drake staked on the Los Angeles and Miami teams to win their respective games.

Drake occasionally loses huge amounts of money on his bets giving credence to the ‘Drake Curse’ phenomenon in betting.

Following the revelation, supporters reacted wildly and in a variety of ways.

“Time to fade those bets,” Roland Mapile said.

Jalen Quest: “Leave my team alone.”

Nate With The Vibes: “Don’t Jinx my heat man.”

Shoota: “Please God Drake curse save our season.”

Miami Hurricanes on top 305: “Glad the grizzlies gonna win now but smh really drake gonna curse the heat again.”

The Grizzlies will be missing franchise player Ja Morant when they play the Lakers.

While Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for Game 2 of their first-round series, the Heat are in a similar circumstance. Both the Lakers and the Heat are up 1-0 in their respective playoff series.

Los Angeles used the opportunity to defeat an undermanned Memphis team in Game 1. LeBron James and his LA team played more aggressively and controlled the tempo of Game 1 when Morant went down.

Morant hurt his wrist while attempting to run over Anthony Davis. If both teams are using the same approach, they might go into Game 3 in Los Angeles with a 2-0 lead.

The Lakers must seize the opportunity and go for the hoop. Despite having the current Defensive Player of the Year, the Grizzlies shouldn’t be afraid to attack the basket.

According to NBA analyst Chris Broussard, James should back off and let his teammates handle the series against the Grizzlies who are the second-best team in the West.

Bouchard believes the Lakers should build their victory on their first-game momentum in Thursday’s playoff.

LeBron doesn’t need to send a message. … He’s LeBron James. He’s got four rings. He’s the all-time leading scorer. Everyone knows what LeBron brings. This is what LeBron’s approach should be, ‘Let me get the others … involved,” says the analyst.

He further opines that by so doing, the Lakers will send a strong message to the league.

Going back to Drake’s bet on the Lakers and Miami Heat, it comes barely a fortnight in another high-stake bet in boxing.

He placed a $900,000 (£725,000) bet on UFC fighter Israel Adesanya who was fighting Alex Pereira but it paid him handsomely.

Adesanya won back the 185-pound championship after losing it in November 2022 to Pereira.

The rapper, 36, placed two separate bets on Adesanya each worth £323,000 ($400,000). He had complete faith in the New Zealander. Following Adesanya’s stunning second-round knockout of Pereira in Miami, the Canadian won $2.7m (£2.17 million) from his two high-stake bets.
