Career
Diego Costa began his football journey as a small boy in Brazil, the country of his birth. Despite regularly playing street football, the future Atletico Madrid star did not believe he would one day become a professional. Between 2004 and 2006, Costa played for Barcelona-SP youth team.
In February 2006, Diego Costa signed a contract with Portuguese side Braga. He never had a chance to represent Braga as he was sent on loan to Penafiel before joining Atletico Madrid. In his first spell with Atletico Madrid, Costa went on loan to Braga, Celta and Albacete.
