Aussems said his team lacked creativity
Leopards’ push for the title suffered a blow
AFC Leopards’ hunt for the FKF Premier League title suffered a dent after being held to a 0-0 draw by FC Talanta at the Nyayo National Stadium. Head coach Patrick Aussems was dejected with not only the result, but the performance of his players as well.
“Today, there was nothing to talk about the game. We were not aggressive enough offensively and we did not create much. It was not a good performance and we are lucky to get a draw,” the tactician said.
The first leg between the two sides ended in a 6-9 thrashing in favour of Leopards, but Talanta came into the return fixture determined to ensure the score is respectable this time round.
“In the first leg, we lost the game 6-0 but today, we came here an improved side and I am happy with the performance we have had. The only blemish was that we didn’t score, but we had a really good outing. I am happy with the performance of the players,” said Talanta’s head coach Ken Kenyatta.
He added; “We are now playing with more focus and motivation and the aim is to finish the league strong. We are taking a match at a time and we want to see how many points we can get at the end of the season.”
Leopards with first few chances
Action between AFC Leopards and FC Talanta
Leopards had the first few chances of the game, first Giovanni Lukhumwa striking a long range shot from distance which flew over the bar. Minutes later, Erick Mbithe curled in a corner, but Musa Oundo’s header was brilliantly saved by the keeper.
On the other end, Talanta’s first real chance at goal came after 22 minutes when December Kisakah curled a freekick from the edge of the area but it flew inches over the bar.
Seeing that their offense was not clicking, Talanta made changes, Brian Yakhama coming in for Augustine Kuta after just 34 minutes.
On the other end, Ojo Olaniyi came close for Leopards with a snap shot from the edge of the area but it flew over.

At the start of the second half, Leopards made changes, with Brian Wanyama and Eugene Mukangula coming in to add some creativity in attack.
Mukangula quickly got into business and he had a great attempt at goal, sighting the keeper a few paces off his line, but his eventual shot flew over the bar.
Kisakah also had a chance for Talanta when he stole in a space ahead of his marker to glance a cross from Michael Jairo, but his header went inches wide.
Despite late concerted efforts, none of the two sides could change the color of the game, as they settled for a point each.
Leopards dropped to sixth in the standings with 40 points, 12 behind leaders Gor Mahia while Talanta moved a step up to 13th with 25 points.
