The World Cup is far gone but Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi is in the news once more following his divorce case from his Spanish actress wife Hiba Abouk.
Hakimi and Abouk broke up in early 2023 and the actress, 36, filed for divorce from the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player.
However, what baffled many people is the fact that Abouk’s bid to get half of Haikimi’s fortune hit a snag. According to Marca, a daily in Spain, all of the PSG player’s property and wealth are in his mother’s name, Saida Mouh.
The report by the Spanish daily added that Mouh also receives her son’s salary from the French Ligue 1 club. He earns more than $215,000 per week, making him the sixth highest-paid African footballer.
WHY DID ACHRAF HAKIMI’S WIFE HIBA ABOUK FILE FOR DIVORCE?
Hiba Abouk accused Achraf Hakimi of promiscuity and coital abuse following a rape case now in preliminary stages lodged by a 24-year-old woman. Abouk filed the divorce upon knowledge of this incident that ostensibly happened in February this year when she was away with their kids.

Police are probing the incident although the woman only made an unofficial statement of the incident without a motive to pursue a legal battle over the same. However, the police acted with due diligence and decided to investigate the matter further.
Abouk stated she would always support victims when she for the first time, last month, broke her silence on the rape claims against Hakimi. She added that she had chosen to end her relationship with Hakimi before he was charged with rape.
DOES ACHRAF HAKIMI AND HIBA ABOUK HAVE CHILDREN?
Amid what is turning out to be a nasty divorce case, Hakimi and Abouk have two sons together. The lovebirds met for the first time in 2018 when Hakimi played for German club Dortmund.
Abouk was and still is a famous figure courtesy of her film career which received a major boost when she starred in Spanish crime drama, El Principe. Despite holding Spanish citizenship, Abouk was born in Madrid to Tunisian parents.
On the other hand, Hakimi is quite fluent in Spanish since Morocco borders this European country on its northern Mediterranean shores. Prior to welcoming their first child in 2020, the couple held a glam private wedding. They would then welcome their second son in 2022.

News of Hakimi’s mother managing Hakimi’s wealth came as a big surprise. It effectively locked Hiba Abouk out of a share of his wealth as much as they have two children together.
While this created a buzz in France, Morocco and Spain, it is worth noting that Abouk is a woman of means. She has an enviable fortune from her acting career that’s enough to see her through many years to come.
Football fans across the world had varied comments on this whole issue of Hakimi using his mother as a custodian of his wealth.
