  • Arsenal are enjoying one of their best seasons in the Premier League in the recent years
  • The Gunners are on top of the league and have a trio of Bukayo Saka, Martinelli and Odegaard banging goals
  • The trio are amongst the best in Europe just compared to PSG’s Messi, Mbappe and Neymar

Only two Arsenal players had double digits in Premier League goals at the conclusion of the previous season. However, the Gunners have three players with ten or more goals in the top division with 11 games left in the current season.

Arsenal has had three dependable scoring options this year in Gabriel Martinelli (12 league goals), Bukayo Saka (10), and Martin Odegaard (10).

Only one other club in Europe’s top ten leagues can claim as many prolific goal-scorers as that feat, which is impressive at such an early stage of the season.

Only one other attacking trio in top-tier European competition, Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe (19 league goals), Lionel Messi (13) and Neymar (13) can equal Arsenal’s goal distribution.

In the FIFA Best Awards for 2022, Mbappe and Messi placed first and second, respectively, with Neymar rounding out the triumvirate in ninth place. The 14-man selection that was revealed in January did not include any Arsenal players.

This is uncharted territory for Arsenal’s trio, who are significantly younger. Before the current season, Odegaard’s highest league performance was eight goals while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands, whereas Martinelli had never scored more than six goals in a single league season.

Saka, who had 11 goals in the Premier League last season, was Arsenal’s leading scorer, but the 21-year-old has now become the team’s youngest player to ever score ten or more goals in successive seasons in the Premier League.

Mbappe has scored at least 13 league goals every year for the past seven years since making his first-team debut for Monaco at the age of 17 due to his early development. Neymar has reached double figures in goals in seven of the last eight top-flight seasons, while Messi’s streak of 15 straight seasons with at least six goals was broken by just six goals in his first Ligue 1 campaign. This term, the regular operation has been restored.

Due to an ankle injury that will terminate his season, Neymar will not be able to increase his total this year. In comparison, Arsenal might be able to add a fourth name to their list of top scorers now that a Brazilian has returned from injury.

Gabriel Jesus made his first start in the Premier League since November against Fulham as a substitute after overcoming a serious knee injury he sustained while representing Brazil at the winter World Cup. The 25-year-old has five league goals after netting in the North London Derby in October, but he still has more than a quarter of the season to add to his total.

Despite having a healthy goal distribution, Arsenal does not lead their league in scoring, in contrast to PSG. With 28 of those goals coming from the Norwegian goal-gobbler, Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s offence has pushed the defending champions to 67 goals in 27 league games, three more than Arsenal. With only nine league goals, Phil Foden is the team’s next-highest scorer.

In a comfortable win over Fulham on Sunday that restored the Gunners’ five-point lead over City at the top of the Premier League, Odegaard’s tenth goal of the year was Arsenal’s third. There is a good chance that at the conclusion of the season, they will also be above City if Odegaard, Martinelli, and Saka keep finding the back of the net so frequently.
