Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea FC, has expressed interest in buying RC Strasbourg Alsace, a French Ligue 1 club.
According to L’Equipe, a French publication, Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace president Marc Keller disclosed that he is in talks with Boehly about selling the club.
The club has been considering the best approach to sustain the club and strengthen its aspirations for some time now.
Boehly according to Keller will bring in the much-needed financial muscle the club is looking forward to having.
Strasbourg is in 15th place in Ligue 1, just three points away from relegation. The Ligue 1 club has been looking for a new investor since 2012.

Strasbourg Racing Club Located in Strasbourg, Alsace, was established in 1906. The club fell into financial liquidation during the 2010–11 Championnat National season which is why it was relegated to the fifth division of French football.
That’s why the club was looking for an investor to pump in revenue in 2012. Nevertheless, the team is one of only six teams to have won all three of the country’s main trophies.
The Championship in 1979, the Coupe de France in 1951, 1966, and 2001, and the Cup de la Ligue in 1964, 1997, 2005, and 2019. Further, the six teams with more than 2,000 games played in France’s premier division (over 56 seasons) include Strasbourg, which has participated in 5 games.
In May 2022, Boehly and his friends submitted a 4.25 billion pound ($5.2 billion) bid for Chelsea. The Premier League, the UK government, and the EU all subsequently approved the deal after Russian mogul Roman Ibrahimovich.
Out of these, 1.75 billion pounds of the budget was set aside for the Chelsea Foundation, the women’s team, the academy, and the stadium.
Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina, Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Denis Zakaria were all signed by the club for a combined €280 million since Boehly took over as chairman and interim sporting director.
Boehly, 48, studied at the London School of Economics and began his career working for a number of significant American institutions, including Citibank, before joining the world’s largest financial services company Guggenheim Partners in 2001 and eventually rising to the position of chairman.

He left Guggenheim in 2015 to start his company Eldridge Industries with vast interests in real estate, technology, sports, media banking, technology, insurance, and the hospitality industry.
Some of his most famous holdings include Billboard, an American music chart company, Cirque du Soleil, and Bruce Springsteen’s song and music rights inventory.
Boehly had other investments in professional sports prior to his purchase of Chelsea. He and other investors, including Walter and NBA basketball great Magic Johnson, purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team from Frank McCourt in 2013.
He now has shares in the LA Sparks WNBA franchise as well as the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. According to Forbes magazine, he has a personal fortune worth $4.55 billion.
