The Bella Twins were a professional wrestling tag team consisting of identical twin sisters Nikki Bella and Brie Bella. With a dash of “Twin Magic”, the sisters carved their names into WWE history books.

Nikki and Brie Bella began their career with a little deception, as they used to switch places during Brie’s matches to ensure she emerged victorious.

Both sisters are former WWE Divas Champions. Brie set history by becoming the first twin in WWE history to win the WWE Divas Championship. Nikki later won the title and became its longest-reigning title holder. The sisters were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame (Class of 2020).

How Old Are The Bella Twins? 

The Bella sisters, Brianna Monique Danielson and Stephanie Nicole Chigvintsev, were born on November 21, 1983, in San Diego, California. The sisters are 39 years old as of February 2023.

According to their Wikipedia page, Nikki and Brie Bella were born sixteen minutes apart. They are of Mexican and Italian descent and were raised on a farm on the outskirts of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Career 

WWE offered Nikki and Brie Bella contracts in June 2007 and assigned them to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). They made their in-ring debut in September, defeating Krissy Vaine and Nattie Neidhart.

The sisters used to switch places behind the referee’s back if one of them was hurt during a match. This is what is known to their fans as “Twin Magic”. But even after their tactic was discovered, they proved to be tough competitors. During their time in FCW, they also competed in bikini contests.

Brie Bella was the first of the two to make her debut on the main roster. She performed on a SmackDown episode in 2008 and Nikki followed a few episodes later.

During their early years at WWE, Nikki and Brie were famous for their on-screen relationship with The Miz and John Morrison. They also competed against each other several times.

Brie Bella won the Divas Championship on April 11, 2011, after defeating Eve Torres. This marked the first time either twin had held a championship in WWE. She lost the title 70 days later.

Nikki Bella claimed the Divas Championship on April 23, 2012, after defeating Beth Phoenix on Raw. Executive Administrator Eve Torres fired The Bella Twins several days after Nikki won the Divas title. They made appearances on the independent circuit, competing at Northeast Wrestling and CTWE Pro Wrestling.

The Bella sisters returned to WWE in 2013 and continued to make in-ring appearances. From 2015 onwards, the influence of the twins began to diminish. They announced their retirement from in-ring competition in March 2019 on Total Bellas.

It is generally agreed that Nikki was the most successful wrestler of the two. During her wrestling days, she was highly ranked by several experts and magazines.

Outside Wrestling 

Besides wrestling, The Bella Twins have also been involved in other activities. They have appeared in several films and TV productions, including the 2014 movie “Confessions of a Womanizer”. They voiced characters in the animated film “The Flinstones & WWE: Stone Age SmackDown.

The duo has a YouTube channel which has over 2.6 million subscribers. They launched their own podcast in 2019.

Brie Bella got engaged to fellow professional wrestler Daniel Bryan in September 2013. The couple married in April 2014 and they have two children together.

Nikki Bella married her high school sweetheart at the age of 20. However, the marriage was annulled three years later. She began dating John Cena in 2012 and the two got engaged in April 2017.

Nikki and Cena cancelled their engagement and called off their wedding which was to take place in May 2018. Nikki began dating Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev in January 2019. She gave birth to their first child in July 2020 and the couple married in August 20222.
