At the age of 24, Jeff Gordon became the youngest driver in history to win a NASCAR title. The 51-year-old is a four-time Cup Series champion and a three-time Daytona 500 winner.

Career 

Jeff Gordon performed laps in a makeshift racetrack for the first time when he was only five years old. He won his first Quarter Midget Championship when he was eight years old. 

Gordon used to attend school during the weekdays and participate in Quarter Midget Championships during the weekends. He won four class championships in Go-Karting in the early 80s. 

Before turning 18, he had already won short-track races and received the USAC Midget Car Racing Rookie of the Year award. He became the youngest driver in America to win the USAC Silver Crown and the season championship at the age of 20. 

Jeff Gordon participated in the first Busch Race on October 20, 1990, finishing 39th. The following year, he competed in the Busch Series, driving Ford Thunderbirds. The American set a NASCAR record in 1993 and also made his Winston Cup debut that year.

During the 1993 Winston Cup season, Jeff began driving the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet. He was one of the youngest participants, and many had doubts that he would compete in NASCAR. The talented driver ended up surprising many as he recorded his win at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. 

Jeff recorded his first NASCAR Winston Cup win in 1995 by defeating Dale Earnhardt, who was a big name in the game. 

In 1997, Jeff became the youngest driver in history to win the Daytona 500. He also won the Winston Million and the Coca Cola 600 that year. In 1998, he won the Winston Cup for the third consecutive time, setting a record. 

The American international experienced career highs and lows between 2002 and 2009. Some of his biggest wins within that period include winning the Sharpie 500 night race at Bristol, becoming the first NASCAR driver to record four Brickyard victories and winning the Texas Motor Speedway Championship. 

Between 2010 and 2013, Jeff was a runner-up in the Subway Fresh Fit 600. His 2013 season began with a crash at the Sprint Unlimited, but he ended up qualifying second for the Daytona 500. 

On January 22, 2015, the legendary driver announced that 2015 would be his last season as a full-time driver. He claimed his first and only win of the year in November, winning his ninth career Martinsville race. 

Besides racing, Jeff also participated in other off-track events, such as IROC at the Daytona International Speedway and Race of the Champions.
