Jack Grealish admitted that adapting to life at Manchester City has been “much more difficult” than he imagined.

The England international opened up about his struggles following Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea. The Cytizens were not at their best, and it was Grealish who produced the moment of incisiveness.

Grealish came off the bench to create the winning goal, which was scored by Riyad Mahrez. Manchester City are now five points behind league leaders Arsenal after the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola praised Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez after the significant win.

“Grealish’s body language is exceptional if he plays or doesn’t play. These type of guys always play good. With Riyad, I knew the space would be there for him. He’s good one-on-one in the final third.” Pep Guardiola said, as per Sky Sports.

Jack Grealish Speaks About Life At Manchester City

Jack Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for 100 million euros. However, things have not been easy for him under Pep Guardiola.

Since the start of this season, Grealish has only managed three assists. In his 18 months at Manchester City, the playmaker has only been involved in 10 goals (four goals, six assists).

His goal contribution since joining Manchester City is less compared to that of his final season at Aston Villa (16 – six goals, ten assists).

The talented winger spoke about his struggles to Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Karen Carney.

According to Grealish, he expected to get many goals and assists while playing for Manchester City. However, that has not been the case.

“When I came here, I’ll be honest with you, it was so much more difficult than I thought. In my head, I thought I was going to the team sitting top of the league, and I was going to get so many goals and assists and obviously, it isn’t the case. A lot of teams tend to sit in against us, and that wasn’t the case at Villa.” Jack Grealish told Sky Sports pundits said when asked about life at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old attacker said that he had the freedom to play anywhere on the attack at Aston Villa.

“Dean Smith (former Aston Villa manager) would tell me to go and find the weak link in the defence, whether that was on the right, the middle or whether I wanted to hug the touchline. I always had an overlapping full-back. I came into City, having been at Villa my whole life, and I’ve never had to change. I didn’t realize how hard it is to adapt to a different team and manager.” Grealish added, as per BBC Sports
