Pele passed away on Thursday after a long battle with colon cancer. Tributes from football players, teams, fans and legends have been pouring in since his death.
Fulham will pay tribute to Pele before celebrating the life of club-loyal George Cohen. George Cohen, who won the 1966 World Cup with England, passed away on December 23.
Premier League’s next round (gameweek 18) begins on Friday with two fixtures and will go up to on Sunday. All the teams will honour the legend before the games begin.
“In tribute to Pele, Premier League clubs will remember his contribution to football at matches taking place from Friday 30 December-Sunday 1 January (Matchweek 18) by holding a minute’s applause prior to kick-offs. Players and match officials will wear black armbands.” Premier League’s statement reads.
EFL will also do the same before their fixtures which will go up to January 2.
“In memory of the life of Pele, there will be a minute’s applause before EFL fixtures today and on 1 and 2 January, while players will wear black armbands.” The statement issued by EFL reads.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has also said that it has organized a one-minute silence in honour of the Brazilian icon.
The FIGC said that there will be a minute’s silence in all the friendlies taking place today involving Serie A teams.
According to FIGC president Gabriele, football has become the most loved and played game in the world because of Pele.
Football’s world governing body FIFA has lowered its flags in Switzerland as a symbol of mourning and showing respect to Pele.

Premier League managers have also joined the world in mourning Pele. Tottenham Hotspur boss said he was lucky to know Pele and is saddened by his death.
The Italian manager said Pele might be the most important person in football. Conte finished by saying that the Brazilian legend, alongside Diego Maradona, are the best players in the world.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said Pele made football a better place because of his ability to connect people emotionally to the sport.
“Football is football for these types of people. Before, number 10 was just a great number, and after him, it became something special. Every top player wanted to wear number 10 in their team. What he has done for football is there and always will remain.” Pep Guardiola said, as per BBC Sports.
