Morocco World Cup history is stunning; this North African country qualified for the FIFA World Cup severally.
The Moroccan national team first qualified for the World Cup in 1970, when they were placed in Group 4 of the preliminary round along with Bulgaria, Norway, and Sweden. Morocco did not progress beyond the group stage, losing all three of their matches.
Morocco’s next World Cup appearance came in 1986, when they were placed in Group D with Poland, Portugal, and England. Morocco drew with Poland and lost to Portugal and England, failing to advance to the knockout stage.
In 1994, Morocco qualified for the World Cup for the third time and were placed in Group E with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia. Morocco won their opening match against Belgium, but lost their remaining two matches and were eliminated in the group stage.
Morocco’s most recent World Cup appearance was in 1998, when they were placed in Group G with Brazil, Norway, and Scotland. Morocco lost all three of their matches and were eliminated in the group stage.
Overall, Morocco has not had much success at the World Cup, failing to advance beyond the group stage in any of their appearances. However, they have had some memorable moments, including their win against Belgium in 1994 and their participation in the 1970 and 1986 tournaments.

HOW MANY TIMES HAS MOROCCO BEEN TO THE WORLD CUP?
Morocco World Cup history spins back to six occasions. The Moroccan national team first qualified for the World Cup in 1970 and have subsequently qualified for the tournament in 1986, 1994, 1998, 2018 and 2022.
Morocco has not progressed beyond the group stage in any of their appearances at the World Cup.
HAS MOROCCO EVER HOSTED THE WORLD CUP?
A part of Morocco World Cup history is that it has not hosted the FIFA World Cup. The World Cup is a quadrennial international soccer tournament organized by FIFA, the governing body of soccer.
The tournament is held in a different country or countries every four years, and to date, Morocco has not been selected to host the event. There have been a total of 21 World Cup tournaments held since the inaugural event in 1930.
The most recent World Cup held in Qatar and the host country was chosen through a bidding process. Several countries, including Morocco, have expressed interest in hosting future World Cup tournaments. However, it is yet to be selected as a host.
WHAT IS MOROCCO RANKED IN SOCCER?
Morocco is ranked 34th in the world as of 2022. However, it is difficult to accurately rank national soccer teams, as rankings can vary depending on the methodology used and the specific time period being considered.
FIFA World Rankings are based on a team’s results in international matches over a four-year period. Morocco World Cup history is that The Atlas Lions has had some success in international soccer over the years.
However, they have not achieved the same level of success as some other countries. Morocco has qualified for the FIFA World Cup six times in history and they made a show in 2022 by advancing to the semi-finals.
The national team has also participated in the Africa Cup of Nations, a biennial international soccer tournament held among teams from Africa. They and have won the tournament once, in 1976.
