Harriet Dart secured a 6-4, 6-4 win over Maddison Inglis on Friday to seal Great Britain’s win over Australia at the United Cup. Great Britain went on day two of their match against Australia when they were leading 2-0.
Harriet Dart did an impressive job for Great Britain in following up victories for Cameron Norrie and Katie Swan on day one of the tournament. On the other hand, Dan Evans suffered a shocking defeat to Australia’s Jason Kubler.

Dan Evans was holding a 5-0 lead in the second set but was unable to find the killer blow he needed to win the game. He eventually lost to the Australia international 6-3, 7-6(3).
Jonny O’Mara and Harriet Darts later lost 7-6(4) 6-4 in the mixed doubles to John Peers and Sam Stosur.
Great Britain will now be getting ready to face their next opponent Spain on Saturday. The first match will be between Rafael Nadal and Cameron Norrie. Later that day, Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz will face Katie Swan.
If Great Britain defeats team Spain, they will progress to the quarter-finals of the United Cup.
Harriet Dart defeats Maddison Inglis
Harriet Dart needed 92 minutes to secure a win against Maddison Inglis, who was called up after Ajla Tomljanovic withdrew from the tournament due to a knee injury.
Dart dominated the game from the first set, thereby taking control of the match. She won 83 per cent of her first serve points and was broken just once before converting the first match points.
The Brit won an astonishing 94 per cent (14/17) points on the first serve. The defining factor came in Darts’ response to adversity in the second set.
Maddison Inglis crafted her first and only break opportunities in Dart’s first service game of the afternoon. However, Harriet Darts came back stronger and fired before defeating Maddison in the next game.
Cameron Norrie And Katie Swan Win On Day One
On day one of the United Cup, Cameron Norrie and Katie Swan secured victory for Great Britain.
Cameron faced Alex de Minaur, who received a call after Nick Kyrgios withdrew just before the tournament began. The Brit won the match 6-3, 6-3.

Cameron found the opening break of the match on the third time of asking, and he did a good job to wrap up the opening set.
He then held onto his clean sheet in the second, finding a double break advantage to win the match after 92 minutes.
Katie Swan stepped onto the court with a lot of confidence after seeing her teammate win. She defeated Australia’s Zoe Havis 6-4, 6-3.
The inaugural United Cup will go on until January 4. There are 18 teams competing in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
