He was set to establish a multi-million investment in Kenya
Former American boxer Floyd Mayweather is scheduled to fly to Kenya for a five-day December holiday.
Mayweather will visit Kenya from December 14 to December 19 where he will engage in a series of charity events. Two years ago, Mayweather’s franchise, The Money Team (TMT), made it clear that Kenya is one of its primary growth markets.
Specialized boxing programming based on Mayweather’s own training schedules, virtual reality training, personal training, and a variety of other fitness amenities are all included in The Money Team franchise feature.
TMT announced that it would bring the Mayweather Boxing and Fitness gym franchise to various African cities. This would be done through its appointed Vice-President of Africa Operations, Thabo Molefe, AKA TBO Touch.
At the time, the Covid-19 pandemic had not hit Africa and TMT was upbeat about its new prospects in the Kenyan market.

“Finally the undefeated champion of the world Floyd Mayweather and the Money team takes the world by storm. Look out for Mayweather Fitness Gyms, TMT clothing and merchandise & in Joburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Nairobi & Cairo. As we all Rise & Thrive,” TBO tweeted.
In South Africa, TBO Touch is a well-known businessman and media personality. As a DJ, radio host, and television personality, he has established himself in the entertainment industry.
His appointment came after the multibillion-dollar boxing champion made a four-city trip to South Africa in January 2020 in an effort to “resuscitate” boxing in the country.
On July 27, 2018, The Mayweather Boxing and Fitness debuted its first site in Los Angeles, offering local gym-goers a comprehensive workout. Currently, the TMT brand has opened 44 locations in different American cities in less than two years.
The 44-year-old spent a week in South Africa at the beginning of 2020 as part of his ambition to grow the brand throughout Africa. Mayweather engaged in community boxing programmes while in South Africa and meetings with administrators, government representatives, and various figures in the country’s sports and entertainment sectors.
Mayweather revealed his desire to expand his franchise internationally in an interview with Club Solutions in 2018. He said that his dream was to see TMT be a part of the local community through its studios, digital app, or a VR product.
He intends to continue democratizing fitness and making it available to everyone citing an overwhelmingly good response from people interested in buying merchandise from the TMT.

Then, he spoke of a rapid development trajectory, with ambitions for 500-plus locations within five years, which it considered ‘extremely achievable’.
Currently, caps and t-shirts, among other products, may be purchased via The Money Team’s online store for up to $200. With no defeats in 50 professional bouts and 27 victories coming by technical knockout, Mayweather still holds an unmatched boxing record.
He earned an estimated $915 million through high-profile fights, including his contests with Manny Pacquiao and Connor McGregor in 2015 and 2017, respectively. In 2019, Forbes named him the Highest-Paid Athlete of the Decade.
