Pamela Rose Martinez, known by her ring name Bayley, boasts of being the first women’s Grand Slam champion in WWE history.

Being a Grand Slam champion means that she has won the Raw, SmackDown and NXT singles titles alongside the WWE tag team championship.

The talented wrestler achieved the feat in May 2019. She is also the first women’s Triple Crown Champion, having held the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, WWE SmackDown Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Bayley has also won Money in the Bank ladder match. As of now, she holds the record for the longest singular reign in SmackDown Women’s Championship. She defended the title for 380 days.

Bayley had a fantastic 2015 at NXT, winning the NXT Women’s Championship, Match of the Year and Female Competitor of the Year.

She won the Match of the Year for her fight with Sasha Banks at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.

The WWE superstar is now a villain and utilizes the finisher move arm trap headlock driver known as the Rose Plant.

Early Life 

Bayley was born in Newark, California, United States, on June 15, 1989. Her mother is Anglo-American, while her father is Mexican-American.

Bayley has been a tomboy since her childhood. Growing up, she played several sports, including basketball, volleyball and track and cross-country races.

Her interest in wrestling developed when she was ten years old. Her favourite wrestlers were Lita and Ivory.

She attended Independence High School in the City of San Jose, California.

Bayley began attending wrestling classes in 2008 when she was 18 years old. Her trainer was Jason Styles, who is best known for his current work with Big Time Wrestling.

Bayley, the first women’s Grand Slam champion, made her wrestling debut in September 2008, fighting Davina Rose.

By 2011, Bayley had started wrestling in other promotions even though she was training at Big Time Wrestling.

She made her debut for Shimmer Women Athletes in October 2011. She also performed at Shine Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Destination and NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.

Her first win came on March 18, 2012, in a tag team match against Mena Libra and Melanie Cruise at SHIMMER Women Athletes Volume 48. Her partner was Mia Yim.

Bayley followed the win with two other singles victories over Cherry Bomb and Rhia O’Reilly.

Bayley signed her first professional contract with WWE in December 2012 and made her debut at a live event the following month.

She fought with a Luchadora mask teaming with Charlotte and Paige to defeat Emma, Audrey Marie and Summer Rae.

She made her NXT television debut against Paige on the March 20 episode.

Bayley began her WWE career being depicted as a ‘hugger’ who hugged many fans on her way to the ring. She also performed multiple inflatable sky dancers.

The talented wrestler got her first WWE win on September 4, 2013. It was a tag team match, where she teamed up with Charlotte against Aksana and Alicia Fox.

Bayley went on to lose her next matches until January 2014, when she defeated Summer Rae in singles.

She defeated Sasha Banks twice in August to become the number-one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Bayley faced Charlotte at NXT Takeover: Fatal 4 Way, which was held until September 11. It was Charlotte won the championship in the end.

Bayley won the NXT Women’s Championship in August 2015 after defeating Sarah Banks in the first-ever women’s 30-minute Iron Man match in WWE.

She made her WWE main roster debut at Battleground on July 24, 2016. She was Sasha Banks’ mystery tag team partner in the match against Dana Brooke and Charlotte.

Bayley later continued to make appearances in singles matches. She defeated Flair on February 13, 2017, to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

She won the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on February 17, 2019, alongside Sasha Banks.

On May 19, 2019, she won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, thereby getting a shot at a woman’s championship.

Bayley used her contract to win the WWE Women’s SmackDown Championship, thereby becoming the first women’s Grand Slam champion.
