Cristiano Ronaldo lost in his first visit to Al Nassr

  • Cristiano Ronaldo has signed for Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr on a two year deal
  • Ronaldo left Manchester United unceremoniously in November in what was his second spell
  • Ronaldo was at Al Nassr home stadium previously in his career in which he lost the match

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a record-breaking two-and-a-half-year contract with Saudi club Al Nassr in a spectacular free transfer.

After agreeing to mutually end his contract with Manchester United in November, the action was taken.

Despite claims that European clubs have made proposals to him, Ronaldo will start a new chapter in Asian football in 2023.

However, this will not be his first visit to Saudi Arabia; in fact, he has previously played a competitive match at Al Nassr’s residence.

Ronaldo’s Juventus team lost to Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana on his lone previous trip to the 25,000-seat Mrsool Park in December 2019.

Lazio’s early dominance came to an end with a goal from Luis Alberto in the first half. Ronaldo’s long-range attempt was fumbled by Thomas Strakosha, and Paulo Dybala quickly equalized with a tap-in.

Senad Lulic restored Lazio’s lead in the final 20 minutes with a well-placed volley, and Danilo Cataldi secured the victory in stoppage time with a free kick that ricocheted off the underside of the crossbar.

Rodrigo Bentancur, now of Tottenham, was sent off following two bookable offences late in the day in Riyadh.

This match proved to be the tenth time in Ronaldo’s career in which he lost a final – his current record stands at 27 wins and 11 defeats.

Ronaldo had been a free agent since leaving the Red Devils following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan. Earlier today, SportsLeo revealed the Portugal international had signed for the Asian club.
