The Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina has a surprise for Messi
Messi has been the subject of discussions for Argentine CBK
They want to honour him after a historic World Cup
The Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina is considering having Lionel Messi on the 1,000 peso note.
Messi has been the subject of discussions to have his image placed on a new 1,000 peso currency since the talismanic forward led Argentina to their first World Cup victory since 1986 in Mexico.
Argentina’s CBK is reportedly anxious to commemorate the team’s historic victory in Qatar. It has been brainstorming ideas since the thrilling 4-2 shootout victory against France in the championship game.
Fans are excited to see the 1,000 peso note go into circulation, and mock-ups of the note have gone viral. It is explained in EF that the fact that the $1,000 bill starts with a “10”—Messi’s Argentina jersey number—is a significant factor in its design.
Messi’s beaming visage can be seen on one side of the note, and the phrase “La Scaloneta” is suggested for the reverse.

Since Lionel Scaloni replaced Jorge Sampaoli in 2018, the phrase has become synonymous with this group. Argentina won the 2021 Copa America, the inaugural Finalissima at Wembley Stadium, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup during Scaloni’s administration.
It wouldn’t be the bank’s first attempt to exchange currency with the national team if officials continue with their intention to distribute the note, which they anticipate will become highly collectable for Argentine residents.
In the past, they produced commemorative coins for Argentina’s first World Cup victory in 1978. On the occasion of Eva Perón’s passing, the former First Lady of Argentina, commemorative coins were also created.
Messi is currently relaxing at home in Rosario, where throngs of ecstatic fans greeted him on Tuesday after his return. In the final on Sunday, Messi scored twice as Argentina first gave up a 2-0 lead before giving up a 3-2 lead in overtime. They ultimately prevailed in the penalty shootout 4-2.
He was voted Player of the Tournament, and in the coming year, he will return to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) hungry to add the Champions League to his outstanding 2022–23 campaign.
In his extensive and brilliant career, he has never represented Argentina as a world champion. After winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Messi dismissed rumours that he would be retiring.
He promised to play for Argentina at least “a couple more” times in the future.

“No, I’m not going to retire from the Argentina national team. I want to continue playing as a champion,” he told TyC Sports.
He later told Reuters that representing Argentina in the World Cup is something he wants to do again.
“I wanted to close my career with this; it was the one that was missing, so I can no longer ask for anything else.”
Messi first made his retirement call from international football following Argentina’s defeat to Chile in the 2016 Copa America final. However, he gathered the courage to lead his team in 2022, and it was evident that he would retire until the team’s victory.
He is now the only individual to have twice been named the Golden Ball winner as the World Cup’s top player.
