Amanda Nunes is married to former MMA fighter Nina Ansaroff, who competed in the strawweight division. Amanda credits her success as a UFC fighter to her love relationship with Nina Ansaroff.

The two met in 2012 and announced their engagement in 2018. Nina and Amanda announced in September 2020 that Nina had given birth to a girl, Regan Ann Nunes.

Amanda Nunes has the nickname (The) Lioness. From her tattoo to her Reebok merchandising, Amanda’s nickname has become synonymous with her.

The nickname Lioness reflects Amanda Nunes’ fighting style, brutal. She is widely regarded as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time.

The 34-year-old is the first woman to become a two-division UFC champion and the first and only fighter to defend two UFC titles while holding them.

Amanda Nunes is currently ranked as the number one fighter in UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings.

MMA Career 

Amanda Nunes, the first openly lesbian UFC champion, began her MMA career at Prime MMA Championship 2 on March 8, 2008. She won her debut match, which was against Ana Maria in the second round.

She won her five fights via knockout before securing a deal with Strikeforce.

Strikeforce 

Amanda Nunes made her Strikeforce debut on January 7, 2011, against Julia Budd at Strikeforce Challengers: Woodley vs Saffiedine. She won the fight in just 14 seconds.

Amanda lost her next fight to Alexis Davis in her Bantamweight debut.

Invicta 

The Brazilian international made her Invicta debut on July 28, 2012, defeating Raquel Pa’aluhi in the first round.

Amanda Nunes lost her next fight against Sarah D’Aleilo at Invicta FC 4 via unanimous decision.

UFC 

Amanda Nunes made her in-ring debut at UFC on August 3, 2012. She faced Sheila Gaff and won the fight via TKO in the first round.

The skilled fighter defeated Germaine de Randamie in her next UFC fight at UFC Fight Night 31 on November 6, 2013.

Amanda Nunes lost to Cat Zingano in her next fight, then defeated Shayna Baszler, Sara McMann and Valentina Shevchenko. The three victories earned the Brazilian fighter her first title shot in the UFC.

She faced Miesha Tate for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016. Amanda won the fight by submission after stunning Tate with knees and punches in the first round.

The victory made Amanda Nunes the first openly lesbian UFC champion.

Amanda Nunes made her first title defence in a match against Ronda Rousey on December 30, 2016. he won the fight and earned Performance of the Night.

Amanda defended her UFC Women’s Bantamweight title against Valentina Shevchenko and Raquel Pennington before facing Cris Cyborg for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship.

Nunes surprisingly knocked out Cyborg after 51 seconds in the first round to become the new UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion.

The victory made Amanda Nunes the first woman in UFC to hold championships in different weight classes at the same time.

The Brazilian fighter successfully defended her titles against big names in the UFC, such as Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko, Raquel Pennington and Holly Holm.

Amanda lost the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title on December 11, 2021, while facing Julianna Pena. She recaptured the title on July 30, 2022, after defeating Julianna in her first title defence.
