Magical Performance from Argentina’s star, Lionel Messi
Argentina records their first win in the Qatar World Cup
Mexico now has an uphill battle in Group C as they seem to be headed out
Argentina recorded a crucial win against Mexico thanks to two outstanding goals from star man Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez.
Following a shocking loss to Saudi Arabia in their Group C opening, the result gives the South American team’s World Cup campaign new life.
There was anxiety in the Lusail Stadium among the tens of thousands of La Albiceleste supporters who had gathered to support the squad on Sunday when it was still 0-0 at halftime against Mexico.
For most of his career, Lionel Messi has carried the aspirations of this football-obsessed country. Still, there was an added level of suspense as Argentina faced off against old rivals Mexico in an audible environment on the stage that will host the final.
But Messi, who blasted a potent low drive that was too good for Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute. Argentina’s continued World Cup participation led to a collective sigh of relief from the team and its supporters. When Enzo Fernandez scored an incredible World Cup debut goal by curling one past Ochoa, Argentina secured the victory and three important points.
As a result, Fernandez became the youngest player to score a goal for Argentina at a World Cup since Messi did so in 2006.

Scaloni Relief
The win over Mexico in Argentina’s second FIFA World Cup 2022 game, according to coach Lionel Scaloni, was a huge relief. Still, he urged his team to maintain composure as they strive to advance to the knockout rounds. On December 1, Argentina will play Poland in their final Group C match after bouncing back from their shocking loss to Saudi Arabia.
Scaloni added that it’s not ideal that the team has to experience such emotions before a game against Mexico and that the players faced a lot of pressure leading up to it.
Argentina was on the verge of being eliminated early, but Messi’s wizardry saved them. Argentina must defeat Poland in order to advance to the Round of 16, but even a draw could be advantageous.
“We ought to be more sensible. Just a regular football game, “said he. “The impression that you are participating in anything other than a football game is not good. It’s unpleasant.
“We were all relieved, but certain changes need to be made.”
Messi urges fans to believe
According to Messi, who spoke after the final horn, Argentina’s next World Cup begins today. I often advise them that they should keep believing.

“We didn’t play well in the first half, but as we calmed down, we started to play the ball better in the second half.”
To have any hope of advancing to the Round of 16, as they have in each of the last seven World Cups, Mexico, who has now lost all four of its matches against Argentina, needs to defeat Saudi Arabia, who have three points.
However, for the time being, Argentina’s World Cup show is back on the road because there is hope wherever Lionel Messi is.
