Kenya’s Leonard Langat and Sheila Jerotich will be among the elite marathoners expected at the Ljubljana Marathon in Slovenia this Sunday.

Langat, the fifth fastest in the elite men’s race, won the 2021 Vienna City Marathon, while Jerotich won the N Kolay Istanbul Marathon in the same year. They will be looking forward to undisputed records this weekend.
He holds a personal best time of 2:09:25, and he will expect suicidal competition from Ethiopia’s Kelkile Woldaregay, the fastest man in the field, having a personal best time of 2:05:56.
The 26-year-old Woldaregay won the 2018 Frankfurt Marathon and the 2020 Houston Marathon champion, respectively.
Abdela Gemeda, the 2022 Madrid Marathon Champion, and Gebretsadik Abraha, the 2017 Praha Marathon Champion, will be on track for the elite men’s race.

Other includes Eritrea’s Merhawi Kesete, with a personal best time of 2:06:36 and Henok Tesfay, with an individual time best of 2:08.
Moroccan Mohcin Outalha(2:09:55 ) and Rok Puhar(2:17:49) will also compete. They hold their personal best times of 2:09:55 and 2:17:49, respectively.
Women’s Field

Ethiopia’s Sentayehu Lewetegn, who holds a personal best time of 2:22:45, will also be on track.
Janet Ruguru, with a personal best time of 2:25:57 placed at the 2022 Paris Marathon, will also be joining her compatriot.
Ethiopia’s Siranesh Yirga is another female athlete to watch if women’s racing is something you like; she holds a personal best time of 2:24:37, placed at this year’s Madrid Marathon.
She is also a marathon champion of the 2022 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
Her compatriots Maeregu Hayelom and Bekelu Geletu, with personal best times of 2:24:42 and 2:27:50, respectively, will be on track.

Route Couse
The Ljubljana Marathon course starts from the Slovenia city streets just before the national theatre and ends at Congress Square.
From Slovenia, runners run into the Bežigrad District, then head to the west Šiška and Dravlje Districts before heading south through the Rožnik District and later back toward the city centre for the halfway point.
It later heads to the southwest through Vič District before going east via the Trnovo and Rudnik Districts.

The course then enters the Jarše District by running northwest along Kajuh Street just before the Bežigrad District and, lastly, head back south to the city centre to the finishing point at Congress Square.
