Kipruto wins London Marathon as Joyciline finishes second

• Kipruto was the only Kenyan in the men’s race
• Joyciline relinquished her title to Ethiopia’s Yehualaw Yalemzerf
• Judith Korir and Mary Ngugi both finished in the top 10

Amos Kipruto clinched his first ever Major Marathon title after bossing the final 5km to win the London Marathon crown. Meanwhile, defending women’s champion Joyciline Jepkosgei relinquished her women’s crown after finishing second behind Ethiopia’s Yehualaw Yalemzerf.

Kipruto was the only Kenyan in the race and he delivered a brilliant performance, winning the race in 2:04:39 ahead of Ethiopia’s Leul Gebresilase who was second in 2:05:12 while Belgium’s Abdi Bashir was third in 2:015:19.
