The John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry is one of the greatest feuds in professional wrestling history.
Cena and Orton were the top stars in WWE history at some point in the last two decades.
Despite their long-term rivalry in WWE, John Cena and Randy Orton are good friends in real life. Cena described Randy Orton as his best friend since day one.
WWE placed John Cena and Randy Orton as enemies through the John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry. But are the two superstars enemies in real life?
The John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry is undoubtedly one of the greatest in WWE history. The rivalry dates back to July 23, 2007, when Randy Orton attacked John Cena after his match that night.

The attack led to WWE Executive Assistant Jonathan Coachman naming Randy Orton as the number one contender to the WWE Championship title, which Cena by then held.
Randy and Cena fought for the first time at SummerSlam. And John Cena won the fight.
Randy Orton then attacked John Cena during his match with Booker T leading to disqualification of the match. The WWE superstar then attacked and seriously injured John Cena’s father, who was sitting at ringside.
John Cena and Randy Orton faced off at Unforgiven, where the former got his revenge. He got himself disqualified by attacking Orton in an aggressive manner and allowing his father to kick Orton in the head.
The two once again faced each other at a Last Man Standing match to settle their rivalry. Randy Orton tied Cena to the ring’s corner and forced his father to fight him. And as you would expect, Orton easily won against Cena’s father.
However, the rivalry between John Cena and Randy Orton ended prematurely after Cena suffered an injury during his match with Mr. Kennedy.
WWE renewed the John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry in July 2009 at Night of Champions. Randy Orton won the WWE Championship that night after pinning John Cena.
The Legacy, a villainous stable led by Randy Orton, attacked John Cena numerous times, leading to a match at SummerSlam. Orton won the match.
John Cena got back his WWE Championship title in a Hell in a Cell match at the inaugural PPV event. The John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry halted for nearly four years after Cena won the Superstar of the Year, a special episode of Raw.

The rivalry continued in late 2013 after Randy Orton defeated Daniel Bryan to win the WWE Championship. Cena, who had also won the World Heavyweight title that night, claimed that there should only be one champion in WWE.
Triple H, who was the leader of the authority, arranged a match between the two, which Randy won.
Randy Orton attacked John Cena’s father once again in January 2014, reigniting the feud. The two stars feuded several times in 2014.
The historic John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry came to an end in a Hell in a Cell match on October 26, 2014. Cena won the match.
After the end of their rivalry, John Cena and Randy Orton fought for the last time on February 11, 2017, in an untelevised live event. Cena won the match to defend his WWE Championship title.

John Cena and Randy Orton are not enemies, as WWE portrayed them during their rivalry days. The two are good friends and have been inseparable in their decade-plus careers.
John Cena has described Randy Orton as his best friend since day one. Cena and Orton have been friends since their days at Ohio Valley Wrestling.
The two superstars mirrored each other as they became WWE champions later in their careers. Randy and Cena competed as a tag team in various matches when they were in their prime.

Randy Orton made his WWE debut on April 25, 2002. John Cena on the other hand made his debut on June 27, 2002 against Kurt Angle. This was before the John Cena-Randy Orton rivalry started.
According to Cagematch.com, John Cena and Randy Orton have battled each other 22 times since their first match on November 13, 2005.
